Everyone says the Primetime soap is dead but Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Private Practice and True Blood score excellent ratings so maybe Lonestar was just shit? LOL
Well, if we're to assume that, then Desperate Housewives should be getting equally crappy ratings, LoL.

Dirty Sexy Money was great but the writers strike really killed it.

I think it's a shame. The pilot didn't blow me away by any means, but I think the show had potential. Plus, now network execs will probably more convinced than ever that people don't want to watch serialized dramas (which I don't believe is true), so we'll be forcefed more medical/legal/crime dramas (as if we don't have enough).
And don't forget :puke: reality shows! I know I'm in the minority here but I loathe them!! :drunk:
I don't think networks have been as bad about reality shows the last few seasons. This isn't like 2000-2003, where every other show on was some stupid reality show -- thank God.
Its not much different. Multiple nights of dancing and singing. Bachellors and Bachellorettes, and Pads. Survivors, Racers, Models, Houseguests, Fattys, Chefs, etc. They've just consolidated their hit franchises and expanded their running times.

A continuing arc does not make it a soap.

And you cant compare True Blood. There is always a following for continuing supernatural dramas.

Perhaps I should have called them serials. I am curious as to where the distinction is made between a soap and a serial?

There are a lot less reality show than there were. Some reality shows are put into the reality category, but don't really fit it. I'm sorry in some people's opinion Antiques Roadshow is a reality show, it is unscripted yes, but it isn't people being followed around looking for dates and being sleazy.
I don't think of Antiques Roadshow as reality tv anymore than I do Judge Joe Brown! But there are still so very many shows with people being followed around looking for dates and being sleazy or whatever the "format" is!

And the first official cancellation of the 2010-11 TV season is… a real bummer. Fox has pulled the plug on its critically adored drama Lone Star after two low-rated episodes.

Lie to Me—which wasn’t expected to kick off its third season until later this fall—takes over the show’s Monday-9 pm time slot beginning next week.

It's Official: Fox Cancels 'Lone Star'

And the first official cancellation of the 2010-11 TV season is… a real bummer. Fox has pulled the plug on its critically adored con man drama "Lone Star" after two low-rated episodes.

"Lie to Me" — which wasn’t expected to kick off its third season until later this fall — takes over the show’s Monday-9pm time slot beginning next week.

"Lone Star" got off to a disastrous start last week, averaging just over 4 million viewers. The depressing numbers prompted series creator Kyle Killen to pen an open letter to fans urging them to tune in for episode 2. "For ['Lone Star'] to survive, we're going to have to pull off a minor miracle," he wrote. "Statistically, new shows tend to lose viewers in their second week. We're aiming to gain them. In fact, screw it, let's just double our audience."

Unfortunately, viewership for last night’s episode sank to 3.2 million viewers — and with that the show’s fate was sealed.

This upsets me to no end. My favorite new show of the season.

Give me a break, FOX! You could have at least moved it around since it was up against the Event and DWTS? Really???

So sad. :(

STUPID shows like Jersey Shore can find an audience, but a show critics praised cannot, that's pathetic, plus putting it up against ''Dancing with the stars'' probably hurt it too.

What a shame.

I still feel like FOX didn't do enough to promote it and I think airing it on a Monday night was rough.

When The O.C. began on FOX they started with airing it in the beginning of August when there wasn't much else new airing, they should have tried the same thing with this show.
